Assay Services Scientist II / III

Division: Assay Services
Reports To: Director, Assay Services

 

SUMMARY: The Assay Services Scientist II / III works primarily with bioassays, executing antiviral bioassays, other bioassays and ELISAs for characterizing proteins and reagents; analyzing data and drafting client reports; performing cell culture; and developing new and custom assays to support the growth of the Assay Services Group.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Execute immunoassays on ELISA, MSD, Simoa, Erenna platforms
  • Execute antiviral and antiproliferative bioassays
  • Perform cell culture
  • Analyze data and write client reports
  • Develop custom assays and reagents
  • Perform additional duties and/or other projects as required or assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • 0 - 2 Assay Services Scientist Is

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor degree in the life sciences with some laboratory experience required
  • 3+ year’s experience (excluding academic internships) in tissue culture, ELISA, MSD, Simoa, Erenna, and/or cell-based assay development in an industrial setting preferred
  • Strong understanding of cell-based and immunology-related assays and assay development
  • Hands-on involvement in mammalian and/or bacterial cell culture and assay execution
  • Demonstrated knowledge in practical and theoretical aspects of assays including assay design, optimization, troubleshooting, and data interpretation particularly as applied to biomarkers and biologics
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills and ability to execute multiple simultaneous projects
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be highly attentive to detail and well organized High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude, and ability to work independently

Senior Protein Scientist

Division: Product Research & Development - Assay Services (PRaDAS)
Reports To: Director, Product Development

 

SUMMARY: The Senior Scientist develops and executes purification schemes for new product candidates, develops analytical methods for protein characterization, and enhances current purification procedures with the goal of increasing yield, purity and activity. The Senior Scientist is also responsible for development of custom reagents and assays for clients.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Expression, purification, and characterization of recombinant proteins from mammalian and bacterial cell sources
  • Develops new reagents, such as antibodies or purified proteins, for immunoassay use
  • Develops and implements new assay methods and technologies for protein characterization
  • Facilitates the transfer and troubleshooting of new products to the Manufacturing department
  • Applies scientific knowledge to troubleshoot issues encountered during development of novel protein targets
  • Optimizes current procedures through introduction of new methods or enhancement of current methods
  • Develops and trains junior staff
  • Perform additional duties and/or other projects as required or assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • 0 - 1 Protein Scientist

REQUIREMENTS:

  • B.S. degree in biological sciences; advanced degree preferred
  • 1-4+ years of hands-on involvement and expertise in protein purification and characterization
  • Working knowledge and practical experience with AKTA systems or other FPLC
  • Ability to execute and direct multiple efforts; some supervisory and training experience
  • Excellent skills in experimental design, data management, interpretation, and presentation
  • Strong attention to detai
